Earl Black (born 1942) is a professor of Political Science at Rice University and a well-known expert on the politics of the Southern United States, particularly as they relate to race. He and his twin brother, Merle Black, a professor at Emory University, have written several books on the politics of the South and the United States as a whole. Earl Black earned a B.A. at the University of Texas at Austin in 1964 and his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1968.
He recently co-authored a book with his brother, Divided America.
